What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?
As an extension of traditional acupuncture, we use ultra-fine needles to stimulate points on the face.
Through stimulation of various points, we can encourage the flow of Qi and blood which, in turn, reduces wrinkles and improves skin elasticity.
-
What can I expect during treatment?
During the treatment we’ll insert 10 to 30 ultra-fine needles into carefully chosen points on your face, and leave them in place for around 30 minutes.
We’ll also insert needles in points on the hands and arms - these are called ‘distal points’ and help balance the flow of Qi.
Throughout the treatment, you’ll have a chance to relax and enjoy some soothing music.
-
How does it work?
By puncturing the skin with ultra-fine needles, we’re able to stimulate the body’s natural healing response.
The healing response of the body increases production of collagen and elastin which, together, both strengthen the skin and improve its shape and texture.
-
How quickly can I expect results?
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture acts quickly but not as quickly as fillers or Botox injection. The upside of this is that your body has time to comfortably, and naturally, adjust to treatment.
You should expect to see noticeable changes after 3-5 treatments.
-
Is it safe?
Yes.
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years with very few reported complications over all that time.
There’s a small possibility of mild bruising around the puncture points, but this typically passes rapidly.
-
Who is facial acupuncture suitable for?
Most people can benefit from facial rejuvenation acupuncture - especially those with noticeable wrinkles or dull skin.
We recommend against acupuncture if you have a bleeding disorder, take blood thinners, or have uncontrolled type 2 diabetes due to the risk of complications.
